Privacy Policy
Centrizen (“Centrizen”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), operated by [legal entity name] as part of the Kamal Haasan Narpani Iyakkam social welfare initiative, provides a free, non-commercial platform at centrizen.org that helps connect voluntary blood donors with people who need blood in Tamil Nadu, India. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Centrizen, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to connect donors and recipients.
Information you provide as a donor
- Name
- Phone number (used for WhatsApp / call)
- Blood group
- Location / address, PIN code, and (optionally) locality
- Availability status and (optionally) last donation date
Information you provide as a requester
- Your name and phone number
- The blood group you need and the area you searched
Information collected automatically
- Technical data such as IP address, browser/device information (user agent), and timestamps — used only for security, abuse prevention, and basic service operation.
We do not collect payment information — Centrizen is a free service — and we do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data beyond blood group, which you provide voluntarily to enable matching.
2. How we use your information
- To list willing donors so requesters can search by area and blood group.
- To connect a requester with a donor when the requester chooses to make contact.
- To record each contact (who contacted whom, for which blood group, and when) for safety, accountability, and to prevent misuse.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to spam, fraud, harassment, or abuse.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the service, and to respond to your requests.
3. Consent and legal basis
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent and to provide the service you request, in accordance with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made thereunder. You may withdraw your consent at any time (see “Your rights” below); withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer list you as a donor.
4. How your information is shared
- Donor phone numbers are not shown publicly. In search results, a donor’s number is masked (for example, +91 98•••• ••45). A donor’s full number is released to a requester only when that requester chooses to make contact and provides their own name and phone number, at which point the contact is recorded.
- Public listings show only a donor’s name, area, blood group, and availability.
- We use trusted service providers (for example, cloud hosting on Amazon Web Services) to run the platform; they process data only on our instructions.
- We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or a lawful government request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the public.
- We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
When you contact a donor through WhatsApp or a phone call, that communication takes place directly between you and the donor and is governed by the terms and privacy policies of those third-party services.
5. Data retention
We keep donor listings for as long as the listing is active or until you ask us to remove it. Contact records are retained for a reasonable period for safety and accountability and to comply with legal obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymised. You may request deletion at any time using the contact details below.
6. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct or update inaccurate information;
- Request deletion of your information or removal of your donor listing;
- Withdraw your consent to further processing;
- Raise a grievance or complaint about how we handle your data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@centrizen.org. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including masking donor phone numbers in public listings, restricting access to personal data, and using encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
Centrizen is intended for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Cookies and tracking
We use only the cookies and similar technologies necessary to operate the website. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of Centrizen after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
